PHANTOMS

For my final assignment at AU Arts, I was challenged with designing the front and back album cover inspired by a song of my choice. Choosing Marianas Trench, a favourite band since 2009, was a natural starting point. While developing the project, I had the chance to see them live on their Suspending Gravity tour, supporting their new album, Phantoms. The tour’s theatrical aesthetic featured haunting themes, masquerade imagery, and elaborate stage design deeply influencing my creative direction. Experiencing the performance firsthand brought the emotion and atmosphere of their music to life, giving me the inspiration I needed to create a visual piece that reflected the album’s mood and storytelling.

This project later evolved into my graduation piece: a single extended image printed on metal at 20 x 56 inches, exhibited in the AUArts Grad Show 2019.

I was later invited to share this piece with RuminariLive Arts in Beaumont, Alberta for their Upstairs Gallery exhibition November 2019.
